I have an old savage mod 1899 and because the 22 savage groove diameter is 0.004" greater than "normal" 22 CFs and because I'm happy shooting cast bullets in the gun I use a 0.229" bullet size die and push the gc and boolit through base first.
The resistance of the die causes the press to swage the bullets to the die size so they come out 0.229" in diameter. Actually about 1/2 a thou less.
This ensures the rifling gets a good bite on the gc and there is a dang good gas seal too.
These boolits ain't the most accurate but they are minute of soda can or better at 50 yards so I'm happy.
I would have given the gcs a 5* except that they tend to be a little loose on the gc shank of the boolit.

These .224 gas checks are the best, as are all the other ones I purchased from this company. They are reasonably priced and work very. Definitely will buy again..

I have used Gator's GC for years and believe they are the best for my needs. I rate them the #1.

I have used all brands of gas checks in my 64 years of reloading. Every reason to use Sage's gas checks and no reason not to.

I have used Hornady gas checks for several years, because they worked as needed and well. I then found Sage's and decided to try their gas checks. I am not disappointed in the least. As a matter of fact I like them better. They install and protect at least as well as Hornady and they are less expensive. Not only would I recommend these gas checks to friends, I do recommend them.

I am pouring most of my bullets these days. I find gas checks improve accuracy. I've been buying Gators from Sage's for .45-70 GVT. down to these 5.56mm. I have had no issues with any Gator copper gas check and continue to buy them.
