I'm loading 158 TC boolits over hot loads of Vhitavuouri N110 for my carbine, mvs are exceeding 1600 fps so as a precaution I'm popping gas checks on them.
I have had to open each check out to get them to push all the way home on 358" diameter cast boolits so for that reason I'm giving 3*.
Once the little buggers are on they swage down into the boolit just fine.
I use these, 224 copper gcs and 308 straight shank alloy gcs and they are a bit like goldilock's porridge, the 357 too small, the 224 too big but the 308 are just right.

These are great for 9mm and .357 loads.
Here are my steps for accurate cast 9mm loads;
Use a polished Lee .358 sizer, start with .357 and polish to .358.
Lee 147 TC bullet with Sage's plain base checks.
I push nose first, never a problem.
Use medium burn powders, I like HS6 and True Blue.
Always use an expander, NOE or Lyman M die.
I have settled on Blazer brass cases for loading cast, they are thin and will not size the bullet down when seating. Also, they are everywhere on my range for picking.
Last thing, only use a taper crimp die, Lee factory crimp dies will size down a cast bullet and cause tumbling.
You might say that's too much trouble for 9mm, but it's a hobby and I enjoy it.
That's all for the loading advice, now something about the person running the show.
My recent order I received a package that might have been run over by a forklift, one message later and I had new checks on the way.
Top notch service from a stand-up guy.

A friend told me about Sage's plain base gas checks and it has allowed me to use my old plain base molds to make bullets for my .357 Mag and 350 Legend without leading problems. Thanks Sage for being innovative.

Think I covered the main points in the headline pretty well! This is my 3rd time dealing with Mr. Sage. Deal with trust!

They work great on some bullets, but are more likely to shear on some bullets designs then a brass gas check would. Also if the bullet is a little undersized it helps. Worked great on 124 grain conical at .356, but didn't like 180 grain bullets at .358 at all, hit and miss on 96 grain at .356. Wish they made them in brass as aluminum needs a little more care in handling. On my 38 and .357 bullets now I size to .356, install gas check and then powder coat, size and load.

These checks fit my bullets perfectly. Crimping them with my Lyman 450 was easy and they looked like they belonged there on the base of the bullet. I was fortunate that I just happened to check on the site to see if there was any stock and I was able to get what I needed at that time. Didn't take long till they were all gone. Shipping was very fast and I feel my order was handled very quickly.
Thanks for your excellent help and service.

I bought some for a.357/38 Special PB SWC powder coated cowboy load (Marlin 1894) .. Comes out to about 161 gr per boolit with the GC at about 1000FPS in .357 cases (see Hornady load data). I can likely push them faster FPS with these GC. I also may not need the powder coat with a gas check like this, but they fit and sized just fine coated, and no leading so far.
My best advise: It sure helps to press them up against the flat bottom of my "slightly turned" turret press first to seat them flat fully, then push them through backwards on the Lee .357 sizing die. No rips, no tears or failure to seat or grip tight. I didn't have to polish my dies either.
I will also be trying them on my Lee 356-125-2R 6 cavity 9mm rounds next. Same as above applies, but a little more fussy with a round nose pushing backwards. This mold casts at .357 and size to .356 so far with no issues. Haven't stuffed and fired them yet, bot loving the results!

Bought These to try on the Lee 358-158-RF.
Dead easy to install, Base first through a NOE push through Sizer....
I'll be buying LOT"S more!

These plain base gas checks allow me to put a gas check on a 38 or a 9MM plain base cast bullet, prior to the final size & lube process.
They make the normal plain base moulds currently available into a GC version.
With these plain base gas checks you get two moulds for the price of one.
I install them onto plain base cast bullets in .005 step increments.
This allows me to avoid the tearing that otherwise might occur if one tries to do the gas check installation all in one step.
This gives the gas check a finished smooth look on the cast bullet.

Getting them on was a bit tricky at first. Had to polish my sizing die chamfer/lead in surfaces with some 1200 grit emery cloth to get these to go through without ripping. I also push checks all the way on boolit base flush then run check first through sizing die with a bit of LLA. . Your process may be different but this is working for me until I can know better. They shoot great with no leading so far in 357 rifle allowing me to get gas check velocity from my plain base boolits. Bottom line is these are brilliant.. Will buy again.
