Bought several .452 moulds for my 450 Bushmaster and found they caused leading problems. Put Sage's aluminum gas checks on my cast bullets and no more problems. I am glad my friend told me about Sage's plain base gas checks.

These are better than the last ones I ordered. These have a rough skirt and attach to the base much tighter.

I've been using their checks for a few yrs. now and they work. There was a learning curve with the plain base because I had smearing. Not any more. I use their .458 checks also. Awesome products, fast shipping and quick, precise answers to any questions you may have. I'll be using their checks for all of my cast bullets. I highly recommend them.

The .45 plain base gas checks solved the lead problem in my PARA .45. I machined a ram with a 60 degree center, after chamfering the base, I was able to center the Lee round nose 225 grain bullets base first, not only to swage the gas checks, but to seat them before hand as well. Tumble lubed with Lee liquid alox. Accuracy was good at 30 and 50 feet. Residue wiped right out with a bore snake. No lead buildup. No jams, fed and fired perfect.I will buy some more. They were a tedious chore, but I cannot argue with the results.

After a little work on my sizer luber die they go on slick as glass. The same bullet and powder charge that had leaded my 454 Casull severely after. 12 rounds now with the aluminum gas checks left on a fine dusting of lead after 25 rounds that wiped right out with a patch wet with Hoppes, after a dry patch the barrel was clean and lead free.

I was skeptical about PB gas checks working well enough but was I wrong. I use these GC's in 2 of my 450 Bushmaster rifles, a bolt gun and an MSR, with great effect. The cast bullets are pushed to just over a measured 2150fps with good groups at 125 yards. I do powder coat the cast bullets but without the gas checks accuracy was non-existent.

Plan on using for my 450 Bushmaster for a practice/ plinker round. Using a Lee 220gr mold for the Old Army black powder pistol that has a slight rebate for ease of loading. Cast in my allow it weighs in at 210gr. Follow the instructions and size down first. I also slightly broke the corners of the base with a pen knife. Gas check snaps on and slight thumb pressure levels it before I do the final resize. Rating 4 stars until I can get out to test fire but sure looks promising. Going to try the .358 caliber next.
